Why are you an engineer?
Watching the construction of buildings and roads inspired me. I realized that civil engineers have a key role in every single structure or building that we see today. We are responsible for all the ground work, utilities, and foundation underneath these grand structures. Even the largest skyscrapers were not built from “top to bottom,” but rather from “bottom to top.”

What’s the most interesting work you’ve done here so far?
I’ve had the opportunity to work on some vast, prestigious projects using some of the industry’s most advanced software. One of the largest projects is the utility master planning for a 120-acre, multi-use commercial development in College Station, Texas. Another challenging project is a bus terminal and parking facility in Bryan, Texas that involves a great amount of coordination among architects, contractors and other types of engineers.
How does engineering make a difference in the world?
Engineers have transformed people’s dreams and ideas into reality. Engineering changes what we define as possible and impossible, what we can dream for the future. We provide people with services and facilities they use daily. Engineers have a major responsibility in saving lives during natural disasters and preventing catastrophes that would have occurred without engineered designs.
