When it opens in 2009 in Arlington, Texas, the 80,000-seat (with the expansion flexibility to accommodate up to 100,000), 2.3 million-square-foot Cowboys Stadium will establish several world records:
- The longest single-span roof structure will be supported by soaring twin arch box trusses that span 1,225 feet between abutments. At 660,800 square feet, the stadium’s roof will be one of the largest domed structures in the world. This retractable roof is formed by two bi-parting mechanized panels, each measuring 63,000 square feet, and will open or close in 12 minutes. The trademark “hole in the roof” has been incorporated into the design.

- The center-hung video display board, suspended 110 feet directly over the center of the playing field, will measure 180 feet wide by 50 feet high.
