Two case studies (Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and "Phantom" at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino)demonstrate the importance for the entire project team to be engaged from the beginning of the project, from planning and design through the grand opening of a performing arts center. Involvement by the structural engineer from the outset will allow the owner and client to attain their goals more easily and at less cost. Likewise, through cost savings and ingenuity, additional special features may be included rather than excluded from the venue.
