'Foundation-related building distresses are typical problems that consulting structural engineers deal with. This type of investigation usually starts with visual inspection of obvious distresses. For hidden structures, careful further inspection and perhaps some destructive testing are needed. The objective is to obtain a complete and truthful understanding of the physical movement of the whole building and find out the most critical structural damages.
