HOUSTON, TX – WALTER P MOORE announces that Mark C. Waggoner, P.E., has been chosen the 2006 recipient of the firm’s Javier F. Horvilleur Outstanding Young Engineer Award.

Named in honor and memory of Javier F. Horvilleur, P.E., a WALTER P MOORE Senior Principal who died unexpectedly in September 2002, this award is presented annually to one young structural engineer at WALTER P MOORE to recognize design excellence, outstanding client service, and business acumen.

Waggoner was selected from nominees from throughout the firm’s nine offices nationwide. Selection Committee chair Lee Slade cited Waggoner’s outstanding technical and creative contributions to several of the firm’s most significant projects, including four retractable-roof NFL stadiums. He has also been a key member of the firm’s Research & Development team that develops state-of-the-art design processes and learning tools. In presenting the award at the firm’s annual Structural Principal’s Dinner, Slade added, “Waggoner exemplifies a coming generation of young leaders. The future of our firm is in excellent hands.”

Waggoner is a Senior Associate and Project Manager in WALTER P MOORE’S Austin office. A graduate of Washington University (BS) and the University of Texas at Austin (MS), he has been a key participant in many of the firm’s major projects. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Texas and Indiana.
