STOPPING YEARS OF SCOUR

Hardy Toll Road Bridge Scour remediation
Houston, Texas

The structural safety of a Harris County Toll Road Authority bridge and culverts was rectified with our engineering analysis and countermeasure designs.

Severe pier scours had occurred at a six-span, 18-pier Hardy Toll Road bridge, at the tail water of twin 72-inch diameter culverts and at a 48-inch culvert that drains into the channel that has also experienced degradation.

Our selected countermeasures involve a combination of rip rap and concrete revetment as well as realignment of the channel. We provided bid-ready construction plans, specifications and construction cost estimates for the repair of soil erosion and to protect existing foundations experiencing erosion due to the drainage channel.
