FIVE HOUSTON CENTER
HOUSTON, TEXAS
The building has an efficient concrete moment frame as its lateral force resisting system, making the building far more economical than one utilizing shearwalls. The elimination of shearwalls also creates a more open interior feel and maximizes tenant lease space. The structural frame economy was also accomplished with high-strength reinforcing steel, high strength concrete and optimized formwork considerations.
Infrastructure work for the project included traffic impact studies, pedestrian air rights, vault rights and site design. Utility connections presented a challenge as special connections were made into the deep tunnel system.
