UNION PACIFIC CENTER
OMAHA, NEBRASKA
We prepared six proposed schemes to help the owner, the developer and the design team select an appropriate structural system. A composite steel floor system with braced frames around the atrium was chosen for its economy and intended use. A six-story-tall Vierendeel frame spans 90 feet over the building entry and terrace. The 1.3 million-square-foot headquarters required 7,100 tons of structural steel.
The $260-million building features a dramatic, center atrium that extends the full height of the building and provides natural daylight into the core of the building.
