AN ACADEMIC AND
ARCHITECTURAL FOCAL POINT

Northrup Hall Trinity University
San Antonio, Texas

Interaction among administrators, faculty and students has been enhanced with the $21 million replacement Northrup Hall, a mixed-use environment that is an architectural focal point of the Trinity campus.

The 85,000-gross-square-foot facility houses administrative and academic functions. Major spaces include areas for the president and board of trustees, executive administration offices, languages, administration and common use areas.

We selected an economical cast-in-place concrete frame with post-tensioned girders that satisfies the intent of the architectural design and maximize openness by providing column-free office areas. We designed the site and infrastructure, new roadways and alignment, and off-site utilities. We relocated a City of San Antonio bus shelter, modified and extended Stadium Drive, and provided a storm water pollution prevention plan and report and construction administration.

Construction was completed in 2004.
