A Big Bank for the Big “D”

Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
Dallas, Texas

Our long-term relationship with the Federal Reserve System brings continuity to the design and upkeep of their facilities. We completed structural design of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in 1992 and secure design services in 2006.

This regional headquarters for the Federal Reserve Bank in Downtown Dallas is a 764,000-square-foot structure designed to accommodate a working staff of 1,200-plus, some consolidated from three overcrowded buildings. Amenities include a cafeteria, child care, an auditorium and a security court for armored trucks.

We selected a reinforced concrete frame system to provide durable and flexible building floors. In order to comply with increased 2005 federal security guidelines, we provided structural hardening design including retrofits of the lobby curtain wall and cantilevered office tower floors on the street frontage. Carbon fiber composites were applied to the exposed cantilevers to improve aesthetics.

We planned efficient and safe vehicular traffic access to the site, including truck entrances and exits, and on-site vehicular and pedestrian traffic movements.
