GSA’s BIM Pilot Program and LEED Registered

This new $92.4 million, 425,000-square-foot facility will provide six district courtrooms, three magistrate courtrooms, three bankruptcy courtrooms, and 14 chambers (district, magistrate, bankruptcy and court of appeals).

The building will consist of eight levels and will include 68 secure parking spaces. The building is designed in accordance with the GSA security guidelines to prevent progressive collapse and in accordance with the GSA’s blast design criteria.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology was used extensively on this project as part of the GSA’s pilot program for use of BIM, which required the full participation of the design team and general contractor.All major disciplines used BIM and participated in a coordination process for design review and clash detection. This collaboration process have indicated significant advantages in design coordination and in estimating material quantities.
