A Curved and Sloping Structural Form

Golden Moon Hotel and Casino
Choctaw, Mississippi

You can bet on the uniqueness of this curving and sloping structure. And so did the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers, which gave it an Award for Engineering Excellence.

Phase I of this $110 million multi-phase expansion of the Silver Star Resort and Casino included a new 556-room Golden Moon Hotel and Casino housing 90,000 square feet of gaming space, 44,000 square feet of retail, a new cultural center, 1,200-seat theater and a 1,520-car parking garage.

The unique hotel tower is a post-tensioned, flat plate structure that curves and slopes from 30 feet to 220 feet high. The low-rise casino is framed with long-span steel trusses and open web joists.

A ten-story-high globe houses a restaurant, lounge and observation deck. Guests are greeted by an entrance canopy cantilevered 65 feet.
