Uptown Traffic Surveillance System Phase I and II

New closed circuit TV allows for more effective deployment of officers at critical intersections and improved response times to incidents in Uptown.

High traffic volumes in Uptown Houston, coupled with a suburban roadway pattern, leads to congested conditions. Peace officers in intersections direct traffic during peak traffic times. The project consisted of development and deployment of five-camera wireless traffic video surveillance system for monitoring critical intersections and IH 610, providing for the coordination of peace officers, and speedy deployment of first responders.

We designed the system, assisted in solicitation/procurement of a contractor, helped secure the project funding and oversaw all aspects of implementation and testing. Our efforts included central control station design, development of Operations Manual, incident tracking and incident analysis.
