Athletic Field Drainage Improvements

Our solutions for this high school’s track area improved safety, reduced flooding damage, saved on costs and led to improvements for other athletic facilities on the site

To eliminate an open channel and reclaim lost land area without creating additional flooding problems downstream, we incorporated multi-stage detention of storm flows to mimic the original conditions. As a result, runoff from various rainfall events is effectively controlled. The track area was developed to function as both an intramural football field and storm water detention basin to effectively convey runoff from the 150-acre-plus watershed.

Costs were reduced by using existing on-site materials from other areas of the school property to fill the old drainage channel. Creative grading design resulted in a new soccer field, while improving the existing softball and football practice fields and track areas.
