Cook Road
Bissonnet Street to Bellaire Boulevard
Houston, Texas
We designed a four-lane, divided concrete, curb-and-gutter section roadway to replace the two-lane asphalt, open ditch road section. The project also included utility and drainage upgrades, stream crossings, pipeline crossings and traffic signal upgrades. The storm drain system consisting of roadside ditches and culverts was also upgraded to an underground storm sewer system. Our hydrological analysis delineated 13 drainage areas, each contributing to a collector to the main.
The pipes and slopes were sized using pertinent City of Houston criteria. We also performed an impact analysis on two tributaries to Brays Bayou affected by the proposed storm sewers’ discharge.
This $9.5-million project was completed in September 2008.
