REVITILIZINg a city THROUGH IMPROVEd iNfrasTructure
King Hill Avenue Traffic Signal Improvements
St. Joseph, Missouri
As in many cities today, St. Joseph officials and residents are trying to revitalize the city’s older areas. We contributed with improvements to over a mile of King Hill Avenue, including 17 intersections.
We designed intersection and signal layout, including location of crosswalks, handicapped ramps and pedestrian signal heads, pole locations and signal head placement. Our efforts also included selection and placement of loop detectors, considerations for phasing and timing to ensure the signal will operate efficiently and that all necessary hardware is provided and addressing signal interconnection.
We assisted the City of St. Joseph in right-of-way acquisition through appraisal and other services, including a six-contact approach consisting of an introductory letter to each of the property owners, three separate owner meetings, a final offer letter based on consultation with the city and a final meeting for offer signing.
