Converting the former Menorah Hospital in Kansas City to the $100-million Stowers Institute for Medical Research gives new life to the building and patients, too.
The facility includes a six-story, 190,000-square-foot reinforced concrete research complex, a four-story administrative building and a 600-space parking garage. An auditorium for approximately 250 people occupies much of the first floor of the new wing, along with conference and symposium rooms. The existing hospital structure on the west side was renovated into additional laboratory and office space.
