New Orleans Sports Arena
New Orleans, Louisiana

Our innovative structural steel system saved a significant amount of money over a steel solution and was awarded several top engineering awards.

The structural system features two primary tied arches that span the width of the arena. The composite tied arches are comprised of a segmented, high strength concrete box girder as a top chord compression member, along with a structural steel tension tie as a bottom chord. Economical long-span steel joists and metal deck complete the structural roof assembly.

The Arena is connected to the Louisiana Superdome by two pedestrian bridges and features one of the most daring roofs in the country. This 20,000-seat multi-purpose venue is the basketball home for the NBA New Orleans Hornets and the Tulane University Green Wave. It also hosts hockey, boxing and concerts.
