UNI Dome Roof Replacement—Litigation Support Services

Working with the attorneys, our team was successful in defending a construction company involved in roof replacement construction.
After the original fabric roof of the UNI Dome collapsed during a heavy snow storm, the University of Northern Iowa decided to replace a large part of the roof with a hard steel framed roof. Because of delays in the construction, the University of Northern Iowa filed a suit against the contractor, Penn-Co Construction, Inc.
Penn-Co retained us to review the structural bid documents for constructability and completeness. Our scope included review of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, wind tunnel reports and discussions with the steel fabricator and various other subcontractors regarding shortcomings in the bid documents and responsiveness of the original design team.
