High level of savings

Country Club Twin Towers
Costa Del Este, Panama

Walter P Moore was initially retained to investigate the structural stability of the 55-story, 180m tall Country Club Twin Towers. The study revealed that some revisions to the lateral system would be required for code conformance.  In addition, several other areas were noted for improvement and cost savings.

Following the peer review, Walter P Moore was retained to perform a redesign of the lateral system for the towers. In addition to improving the structural stability, several improvements to the core wall configuration and detailing were implemented during the process. Ultimately, the redesigned lateral system required 300 tons less of reinforcing steel than the original structural design, saving the owner approximately $350,000.   Tower 1 will soon be topped out, and Tower 2 construction is expected to be completed in 2011.
