Tallest Building in America— outside of NYC and Chicago

Signature Tower
Nashville, Tennessee

This 77-story high-rise hotel/condominium tower will rise 1,050 feet (320m) and dominate the Nashville skyline. Upon its completion, this elegant tower will exceed the current tallest building in Nashville by 400 feet, will be the tallest building in the Southeast United States, and will be the 6th tallest building in North America.

The tower rises from a 250,000 square foot podium that includes six levels of below grade parking, an amenity level, and retail space. The 1 million square foot tower proper is split between a 10-story hotel block and mid-rise and hi-rise condominium levels.

The lateral system for the tower is an outrigger-braced central concrete core with three levels of outrigger walls that engage 12 perimeter supercolumns to strengthen and stiffen the extremely slender tower. Flat plate construction is used for the typical tower floors to minimize the construction cycle, to minimize the floor-to-floor heights and the overall tower height, and is best suited for the unique column layout. A 200-foot-tall spire (intentionally made porous to reduce wind demand) contains 550 tons of structural steel and caps off this magnificent tower.
