East Downtown Transit Study

Transit service in Downtown Houston had more heavily served the greatest employment density on western side, but in recent years, that density has spread toward the eastern part of downtown.
We assessed the services provided by METRO to Downtown's east side and recommended solutions that would improve transit to this area without degrading service elsewhere. Using home ZIP code data, we determined levels of transit service available for potential transit users based on frequency of service and walking distance between existing downtown bus routes and the east part of downtown.
