REACHING NEW LEVELS OF MOBILITY & RELIABITY

We have a long history of working with the many organizations that are in Houston's medical center. In two separate efforts, we brought to bear not only our engineering skills but also our familiarity with the needs of the individual entities.

In the reconstruction and rehabilitation of over two miles of Fannin Street, essentially “main street” to the medical center, Hermann Park, and the Museum District, we did more than design new water mains, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers. We planned traffic control and construction sequencing to ensure access for the 30,000 vehicles that pass into and through the area daily.

During the design phase of this rehabilitation effort, Fannin Street was selected as a route for a light rail transit system, so we redesigned the corridor to accommodate this future development.

Unimpeded access and sensitive management of the individual needs of a variety of stakeholders also guided our rehabilitation and realignment of Pressler Drive between Fannin Street and Braeswood Boulevard. The goals were twofold: update the decades-old utility systems to ensure reliable service to the medical center and improve traffic access and mobility. This $9.5-million project succeeded in doing both.
