Stewardship: It's not just about Earth Day.
When we talk about stewardship, we include sustainability, conservation, preservation; but we are also including resources that may not be considered within a project’s typical “sustainability purview.” Equally as important are our clients’ resources, which may in fact also be environmental, but most definitely are capital — financial, human, and cultural.
In this Stewardship Report, we focus on some of the key components that have contributed to our culture of stewardship as a firm, highlight some of the initiatives that have truly made an impact for us individually and collectively, and introduce some of the foremost ideas just beginning to take root in the sustainability world. Our Director of Sustainable Design, Dirk Kestner, guides you through the report.
We hope to spur constructive dialogue, challenge business as usual, and demonstrate that even the smallest of actions can make significant strides toward an industry culture where stewardship is intrinsic and sustainability is second nature to the design and construction process.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;
indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead (1901-1978)
