Forte: Matt relocated from Walter P Moore's Houston office to the Austin office to lead Diagnostics efforts in the capital city. He focuses on solving issues inherent in existing structures and leads in the assessment and testing of concrete and steel structures. Matt also provides construction administration for repair and restoration projects including tunnels, parking structures, buildings, and bridges. He is a Certified Weld Inspector, a Certified Unbonded Post-Tensioning Inspector, and a licensed professional engineer in Canada.
Why engineering: “I have always been driven to solve technical problems since I was very young and engineering was a natural outlet for this desire.”

On what inspired him to become an engineer: “My dad is a civil engineer. He always told me I would make a good architect, so I followed his advice.”

Annie’s expertise encompasses the design and investigation of below-grade waterproofing systems, plaza and podium assemblies, exterior walls, fenestration, and roofing. With a background in historic preservation, Annie is currently the Vice President of the Western Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology and is on the Board of Directors for the International Concrete Repair Institute, Northern California Chapter.

2nd career choice, if not an engineer: “Probably a writer of some kind. I have always enjoyed writing and it has been a big part of my career. In college I wrote for sociology publications, now I write about technical/engineer topics.”
On making a difference: “My role is to make complex technical problems accessible to non-technical people so they can understand the root cause of issues in the built environment and then be able to make informed decisions in difficult situations.”

Additionally, Chris provides litigation support services and consulting for emergency and disaster response.
What inspired him to become an engineer: “My sixth grade science fair project ended up being all about structures. I remember building a geodesic dome out of straws and pipe cleaners and an arch bridge out of building blocks. I've been fascinated with structural engineering ever since.”
