Brent Wenger, P.E., S.E.

Brent has spent his entire engineering career at Walter P Moore, joining the firm in 2000. His specialties include Sports Facilities, Higher Education, Office Buildings, and Federal Government (GSA) projects. He values working with talented people who revere teamwork and are willing to help others. Brent is a Texas Department of Insurance Certified Windstorm Inspector who is passionate about having complete, well-coordinated drawings and focuses on fundamental issues that are different from typical projects and makes those his key priorities.

An example of his work resides in the University of Texas’ Memorial Stadium North End Zone expansion. Much of the new structure had to fit between the new seating risers and the old seating risers, making the geometry very complex. In the end, he was able to provide a series of solutions, many in real-time, keeping the project on track despite surprises that appeared as the existing structure was uncovered.

What inspired you to choose your current career path?
I enjoyed science and math growing up and I decided to enroll as a “Pre-Engineer” as a freshman in college. After learning more about each type of engineering discipline early in my college career, I knew that structural engineering is what I wanted to pursue.
How does engineering make a difference in the world?
We help make the vision of clients come to life, satisfying the need for a new facility. This can mean an improvement in quality of life in many different ways.
If you weren't an engineer, what would you be?
Maybe a teacher or golf club designer.
