David Runser, PE

Principal
Structures

David is passionate about details that integrate structural performance with sustainability goals while also meeting the requirements of the design and construction team. With a background in geotechnical engineering, he brings a unique perspective by combining an understanding of soil behavior and structural foundation design to develop solutions for projects located on challenging sites. Highly attuned to the finer points of engineering, David is a member of the Walter P Moore Design Management Team which maintains and establishes company-wide standards and design resources.

Some of his notable projects include: Alabama State University Football Stadium, Montgomery, Alabama; University of Southern Mississippi Stadium Expansion, Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Echelon Place, Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada; DeVry University, Olathe, Kansas; and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Rabigh, Saudi Arabia.

What is your proudest accomplishment to date?
Being awarded a full scholarship to graduate school at Purdue University, defending a thesis, and publishing my findings in a reviewed technical journal.
How does engineering make a difference in the world?
My aim is to design structures that will last and be useful for more than their initial purpose.
What gets your creativity flowing?
Energetic music.
