Having practiced architecture in New York City for over 20 years, Ed Pang is an architect and Senior Project Manager in Walter P Moore's Diagnostics Group in New York. For more than half of that time, he's been involved with building enclosures, waterproofing, and restoration consulting for new and existing buildings for some of the most significant private, institutional, and governmental clients in the country. What inspired you to become an architect?
I've known since I was 13 that I wanted to be an architect. I thought the blending of both technical and artistic training would keep me from being bored. I always wanted balance in my life.
2nd career choice, if you weren't an architect?
I have been taking Voltaire adage that 'One must cultivate one's own garden' literally since buying a house. If I could make a living working in my garden, it might be an enticing alternative.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I love languages. I can get by in French and Japanese and have spoken Cantonese and Bahasa Indonesia decades ago. I also understand a little bit of Italian, especially when the conversation revolves around food.
