B.S., Engineering ABET, Hope College

M.Eng., Architectural Engineering, Penn State University

How does engineering make a difference in the world?
Everyone needs shelter. Buildings and structures are necessary for our communities. New buildings change the function and space of what it was before.
If you had to choose a different career, what would it be?
I probably would have chosen something with computer programming. I've always loved computers and enjoy using them now for structural analysis and modeling.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I lived in India for eight months and Uganda for six months working for a non-profit that designs schools, orphanages, and health clinics. It was during that time that I feel in love with structural engineering.
