Joining the industry in 2004, Murat is currently a Design Manager for the firm’s Washington, DC office. Interested in fusing engineering and digital skills to improve the way buildings are designed, Murat places a keen focus on aviation, cultural, and healthcare markets. His expertise includes large-scale projects in healthcare: base-isolated hospitals, cultural, as well as peer review and performance-based seismic design of tall buildings.
Murat holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles on seismic response of existing reinforced concrete buildings and is currently pursuing his Masters in Data Science through the University of California, Berkeley.
What is your proudest innovation to-date?
Leading the structural design of Basaksehir City Hospital in Turkey, the largest base-isolated building in the world.
What’s the best advice you’ve received — so far?
Good storytelling is very important.
What gives you the most satisfaction in your work?
Having a happy team and client at the end of a project.
