Walter P Moore provided structural engineering design and threshold inspection services, in association with Ellerbe Becket’s in-house structural engineers, for this facility in Sunrise, Florida. The 20,000-seat arena is a high-quality, modern professional hockey arena that is home to the NHL Florida Panthers. Located on 135 acres, the arena has extra amenities that are uncommon in sports facilities, including extra wide concourses, and “starlight suites” that accommodate up to 200 people each. The arena also has 3.5 times the number of restroom facilities required by building codes.

Innovation
The arena features a 5,000 square-foot souvenir shop, a 450-capacity sports bar, and a 2,500 square-foot retail store. The project included a two-level garage for 160 cars and a helipad. The new home of the NHL Florida Panthers was delivered on a 22-month super fast track schedule, establishing a new standard for the arena industry.
