BBVA Compass Stadium

After years of playing in a football stadium, the Houston Dynamo finally has a home to call their own. The first soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer (MLS) to be located in a city’s downtown district, BBVA Compass Stadium also hosts Texas Southern University football and serves as a multi-purpose concert venue. The stadium’s iconic, gem-like exterior façade has garnered rave reviews, become a landmark that helps attract new businesses and residents to Houston’s up-and-coming east downtown neighborhoods. Walter P Moore’s efficient structural design helped the stadium open as the most economical MLS venue to build.

BBVA Compass Stadium features an intimate, 360-degree seating bowl wrapped in 94,000 square feet of a sparkling, expanded aluminum skin. The sideline canopies cantilever 75’ to provide shade to the upper bowl and 34 luxury suites, and the end stage is sheltered from the elements by a canopy extending 125’ above the south end of the pitch. A pioneering example of sustainable design, BBVA Compass Stadium was awarded LEED Silver Certification for new construction.
