Benedictine College Ferrell Academic Center
Benedictine College Ferrell Academic Center
This four-story academic center provided critical classroom space for the college, as well as additional faculty offices and a high quality meeting and reception area. It represented a major upgrade for the School of Business and the Education Department, which encompass the college’s most popular majors. The project was also first LEED-certified educational building on a college or university campus in the state of Kansas.
Construction took place in two phases, and in the process of registering the center as a LEED project. The building has a partial basement and is founded on auger cast pile foundations. The floors are a steel and composite slab system. The roof is also structural steel. The east and west sides feature signature entrances which are clad with architectural cast stone and include multiple archways and a balcony that overlooks the Missouri River.
