CONSOL Energy Center Structural Assessment
CONSOL Energy Center Structural Assessment
As part of The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh & Allegheny County’s periodic inspection requirements, Walter P Moore performed a structural assessment of CONSOL Energy Center. This was the first assessment performed following the opening of the facility in 2010 and consisted of a visual review of the accessible portions of the facility. We documented existing conditions and identified items of concern warranting repair and/or additional investigation. Industrial rope access techniques were utilized to access those areas not accessible via conventional means, namely the structural steel roof framing and exterior façade.
The assessment focused on a discrete list of items specifically identified by the owner in the Request for Proposal. Walter P Moore assessed all such items in a single site mobilization in November 2015 and issued a draft report in December 2015, with the final report being issued in April 2016 following incorporation of owner comments.
All rope access work for this project was completed under the supervision of a Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) certified engineer. Walter P Moore currently has four Level 1 SPRAT certified engineers.
