FIU Student Academic Success Center (SASC)

This four-story multi-purpose student support complex serves as the welcome center and an integrated service facility for students to conduct university business.

The center includes office space for advising and student support; multi-purpose space for classrooms and dining; flexible classroom space; computer study rooms and meeting rooms; a 500-seat auditorium; and a welcome center with a large lobby.

One of the most distinctive architectural features on the building is the angled light wells on the east and west walls of the buildings. After designing the framing for these metal panel walls with steel and light gauge metal studs, it was deemed more economical to frame the walls architectural precast. WPM’s engineers were able to quickly redesign the wall support and the building’s primary frame to accommodate the much heavier wall system.
