SH 105 Access Management Study
SH 105 Access Management Study
The SH 105 Access Management Study was initiated by the Texas Department of Transportation – Houston District (TxDOT) in collaboration with the City of Conroe and Montgomery County. The SH 105 corridor was selected due to the potential opportunity for safety, operational, and economic improvements that could be implemented by TxDOT and other agencies. Walter P Moore was hired by TxDOT to lead the effort to develop a plan that improved safety and traffic operations while balancing the tremendous growth pressures in Montgomery County along SH 105.
Walter P Moore developed recommendations to identify short-, medium-, and long-range improvements aimed at reducing crashes, improving mobility, and supporting existing and future development given the rapid growth in this area. The study also examined alternative modes, including the potential for enhanced transit and pedestrian movements.
This corridor study combined technical analysis with public outreach to provide recommendations to improve mobility and safety along the SH 105 corridor. The results of this study will also help to promote increased ability to accommodate new growth in the area. Walter P Moore facilitated public meetings and encouraged citizens to attend and provide feedback about the improvements. The Walter P Moore team worked with TxDOT, the City of Conroe, and Montgomery County to provide improvements that accommodate anticipated growth and maintain the level of service that residents expect.
