The 3-building complex was designed to accommodate the growing fine arts department as well as to enhance the region’s arts community. The projected included the renovation of 2 structures as well as a newly constructed auditorium with four rehearsal halls and a 1,000 seat performance theatre. A grand porch welcomes it’s visitors into the multi-use lobby. Located at the southeast end of campus, it makes a definitive statement coming or going.

The main structure is almost entirely load bearing CMU with brick facade. In the Main Hall, the stage has an 80-foot tall roof with rigging capacity for the locking, loading, and pin rail galleries. Between rehearsal rooms the masonry is fully grouted for acoustic performance. The new complex fits right in on campus through the continuation of brick exteriors and circular accents indicative of Rio Grande Valley’s unique look.
