The outpatient center is equipped to provide diagnostic procedures, ambulatory surgery, specialty care, and mental health services to accommodate the veteran population in Lee County.

The facility consists of a four-story Clinic Block, a two-story Diagnostic and Treatment area, and an adjoining Central Energy Plant. Expansion joists separate these three areas, and the structure is designed to accommodate future horizontal expansion in several locations. In addition, there is a large separate entrance canopy at the front of the building, two smaller staff entry canopies, a separate loading dock with canopy, and a separate entry vestibule.

Physical security requirements for the facility were designed for a Low Level of Protection (LLOP) against progressive collapse.

The structural system consists of cast-in-place concrete columns and 10” to 12” thick cast-in-place flat slabs with drop panels and perimeter beams. The foundation consists of spread footings on soil improved with vibro-replacement. The exterior wall system is precast panels, metal panels, and glass curtain wall.
