Walter P Moore Headquarters
In 2007 when Walter P Moore relocated its Houston headquarters, the move team analyzed the best location based on traffic studies geared to minimize travel time for employee commutes and to project meetings, access to public transportation, as well as employee access to amenities in the area. After moving in, utilizing public transportation was strongly encouraged for both commuters and travel to day meetings.
The downtown interior build out was designed to incorporate sustainable design strategies and achieved LEED CI Silver status, only the third commercial interiors project in Houston to achieve that status. The primarily open floor plan allows everyone access to daylight, with 91% of spaces having daylight and views. The open ceiling plenum saved on ceiling materials while also providing visitors views of the exposed structure above. In common areas, the existing finishes were removed and the existing concrete floor and columns were cleaned and exposed, and sustainable products were used where finishes and carpet were needed. The office space was featured in the City of Houston Green Building Tour in September 2010.
