Senior Staff Accountant - Corporate Finance

Responsibilities
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team, based in the Downtown Houston office. As a key player in the team’s operations, this individual should be conscientious about their role and possess a strong “can-do” customer service attitude. The Senior Staff Accountant will have the following responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance
o Review US tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local tax statues, R&D tax study and regulations by working with external tax consultants to properly interpret tax laws and regulations
o Oversee international tax and compliance procedures, and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place and documented for tax compliance for the following jurisdictions:
Canada, Latin America, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand
o Oversees transfer pricing process and for international subsidiaries
o Reviews accounting records ensuring tax transactions are recorded accurately in financial systems
o Research and implementation of tax processes, and makes appropriate recommendations from a tax perspective
o Manages tax disputes and resolutions, including audits
o Reviews preparation of audit work papers for external auditors related to tax compliance - Other
o Mentors other Finance Team personnel on priority projects and other areas of accounting
o Communicates frequently with CFO, Controller and Assistant Controller
o Manages Staff Accountant(s) for Latin America
o Ad hoc financial analysis projects
o Review and/or prepare complex account reconciliations and journal entries
** This role is a hybrid position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7-9 years’ experience in an accounting role
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles
- Experience working within a dynamic multi-country team in a professional services firm
- Good working knowledge of tax rules and regulations with the ability to apply these rules to transactions in a professional services firm
- A strong passion for working with tax related items
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional oral/written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
- Proficient in MS Office Suites – Advanced Excel
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (oral/written) is required to effectively translate complex business documents and facilitate meetings with diverse international teams
