Tekla Developer - Construction Modeling

Responsibilities

The Tekla Developer applies their detailing and developer knowledge to lead the design, build, updates and implementation of practice area Tekla applications, macros, custom components and plugins that enhance construction modeling workflows. They contribute to customizing and managing Tekla catalogues, templates, layouts and properties for internal and client specific construction model setups. Engage actively with both internal and external stakeholders to understand project needs. Implement a strong testing process which includes reviewing and analyzing tests, observing testing procedures, and validating application success.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, designs and builds Tekla applications and plugins, including both front end and back end
  • Work with Director of Technology to determine prioritization of different projects
  • Deploy and roll-out applications to construction modeling practice area
  • Accurately estimates work scope and time involved to complete tasks
  • Thoroughly tests all tools prior to production deployment
  • Actively utilizes the applications and macros on live projects to validate performance, identify limitations, and drive continuous improvement through iterative enhancement
  • Reviews project design documentation to contribute to project specific execution plans; Identifying/modifying existing tools or designing custom project workflows, applications and connections to maximize project efficiency
  • Supports Technical Director with the development and management of internal construction modeling and external client Tekla environments including but not limited to; catalogue files, templates, layouts, properties and advanced option settings
  • Troubleshoot and support the construction modeling group ensuring smooth Tekla workflows
  • Assists with firm folder file management enabling the latest versions are implemented across the construction modeling group
  • Contributes to tracking file revisions, changes and storage of superseded files
  • Supports the assessment of new Tekla versions and service packs:
  • Testing existing applications and plugins are applicable
  • Assessing new features that may enhance construction modeling workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Computer Science related field required
  • 5+ minimum prior years experience steel detailing with Tekla Structures on complex projects
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Tekla API, .NET and C# required
  • Demonstrated ability creating parametric custom components
  • Experience with version control and codebase management required
  • Knowledgeable with cloud services infrastructure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to engage individuals and teams to complete tasks or projects
  • Strong stakeholder-service attitude with ability to multi-task and accomplish multiple priorities
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
