Synopsis

This interactive workshop will provide insight to the interrelationship between floodplain management and emergency management from a regional perspective focused on all facets of planning and executing during a natural disaster. It will provide a landscape of proactive planning steps and approaches that can be used to better prepare any community, including the following:

• Relationship between floodplain manager and emergency manager 
• Educating and understanding the National Incident Management Systems approach to emergency management 
• Provide an overview of a coordinated regional flood event and how to plan and prepare 
• Present and discuss the approach to communications and the media, how to prepare and manage the process 
• Provide steps to identifying the findings after an event to better understand and prepare for the next one
