Synopsis

Enhancing model accuracy is vital for effective water resource management and floodplain analysis. This presentation outlines various methods for leveraging model validation methods implemented in HEC-RAS to improve model precision. The framework includes key components for validating hydraulic models, the utilization of high water marks, observed gage data, and radar data correlated with ground observations. It also covers the application of regional regression equations recommended by TxDOT. Additionally, the presentation emphasizes the importance of sensitivity analysis on modeling parameters to quantify the impact of changes.

Learning Objectives

  • The objective is to equip reviewers and modelers with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively model validation techniques, thereby enhancing the accuracy of HEC-RAS models.
