Overview

Sports fans across North America have quite a year ahead. In 2019, over $2 billion worth of new and renovated venues are scheduled to open delighting spectators with innovative technology and unprecedented experiences. Among those highlighted in PanStadia & Arena’s Showcase, Walter P Moore is partnering on three major venues including Allianz Field, Chase Center, and Dickies Arena.

Minnesota United FC of Major League Soccer is building Allianz Field as a soccer-specific stadium in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

In October 2015, team owners announced that the new stadium would be built on the 35-acre Saint Paul bus barn site.

The stadium will seat approximately 19,400, is to be completed in early 2019, and will be privately financed for $200 million.

In November, 2015, Kansas City-based Populous was hired to design the stadium and in December, Mortensen Construction was hired as part of the stadium construction along with Populous. Mortensen built U.S. Bank Stadium for the Minnesota Vikings in 2014–2016, and worked with Populous on three other Twin Cities sports facilities: Target Field, TCF Bank Stadium, and Xcel Energy Center. Structural engineer is Walter P Moore. The stadium will open in March 2019, according to club CEO Chris Wright. The 346,000 ft2 facility will offer seating for nearly 20,000 fans, including 25 suites, 38 semi-private loge boxes, and four club rooms.”
