Synopsis
Unlike new concrete construction, contract documents for repair projects often lack sufficient detailed specifications, leading to misunderstandings between contractors and design professionals that increase costs, errors, and delays. The new ACI 563-25: Specifications for the Repair of Concrete in Buildings is intended to provide a comprehensive, standardized reference that can be added to construction documents, streamlining the process for design professionals, delivering essential information for contractors, assisting product technical representatives, reducing the potential for schedule disruptions and conflicts.
ACI 563-25 is a revised and updated version to ACI 563-18 and includes expanded guidance on crack repair, cathodic protection, protective membranes, overlays, precast concrete repairs, post-tensioned concrete repairs, and architectural concrete repairs. These repair specifications will be described, with practical examples demonstrating their application in typical concrete repair projects.
