Synopsis
This presentation will examine the full pavement life cycle from construction and routine maintenance to repair and replacement and highlight how proper drainage, structural design, reinforcement, and subgrade preparation directly impact long-term pavement performance. Attendees will gain insight into effective pavement management strategies, including annual maintenance inspections, five-year condition assessments, and the importance of standardized evaluation methods such as the PAVER program. The session will also discuss how proactive planning and budgeting can help organizations forecast repairs, prioritize funding, and maximize pavement longevity. Real-world case studies from GSA Region 7, including projects along the Texas and New Mexico border, will demonstrate how data-driven pavement assessments have improved long-term decision-making, reduced unexpected failures, and enhanced the stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
