Overview

Skanska, an experienced developer-builder, had a grand vision for a site it acquired in the heart of the bustling downtown district in Houston.

Projects like this come with unique challenges, which can be mitigated through careful planning and design.

The company envisioned a new kind of mixed-use development with a column free corner workspace, floor-to-ceiling glass facades and a world-class parking experience.

The result is a 35-story, 80,000-square-foot development offering modern amenities, a 1,360-space parking structure, and access to Houston’s underground pedestrian tunnel system.

This vertically integrated mixed-use project is known as Bank of America Tower.

Here are some insights into successful planning and design of urban mixed-use parking, gleaned from Walter P Moore’s work consulting on Bank of America Tower and similar projects.
