Overview
Originally completed in 1998, Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of South Florida’s football program, needed renovations to modernize it in preparation for hosting a future Superbowl. Walter P Moore served as a structural engineering steward during the new construction to ensure the 20-year-old stadium maintained its status as a premium venue.

About the project
When Raymond James Stadium became a contender to host an upcoming Superbowl, renovations needed to be planned to house more fans and provide better amenities to both guests and the players. A multi-phase renovation began in 2014 with a complete redesign of the main-level concessions.
During the 2015–2016 off-season, a comprehensive sound system and approximately 30,000 square feet of HD video boards were added to the end zones and corners of the lower bowl, making up the third-largest video display area in the NFL.
Finally, 27 private suites were converted into two super suites to form a new Hall of Fame Club at the east suite level offering an all-inclusive dining and open-air viewing area for a more immersive experience.
In 2017, expansions to the west club, the home-team locker room, and the conversion of 10 private suites into an expanded east Hall of Fame Club took place. The owner’s suite was reconfigured, and a permanent team store was built in the west atrium, as well.
The final phase of renovations, completed in 2018, included renovations to the east club, the cheerleader’s locker room, and the east atrium restaurant.
From stunning new video boards to a seamlessly distributed sound system, fans feel as though they are fully immersed in the action. Upgraded premium seating areas provide the best game-day experience in the NFL. The new stadium is also now composed of individual seating which can be expanded for special events. A retractable section of seats in the south end zone can be recessed beneath the promenade above, allowing room for concert stages, rallies, and community events.
All of the improvements to fan, player, and cheerleader amenities throughout the facility set the stage for the stadium to host Super Bowl LV in 2021.
