Grand Hyatt at SFO

San Francisco

This new luxury hotel is located conveniently on the airport grounds and connected to the airport by the AirTrain. The hotel contains 351 rooms, a lounge and restaurant, meeting rooms, and close-up views of all the activity immediately below on the tarmac.  Due to the hotel’s proximity to the airplanes and ground activity, special care was taken to insulate the interior from outside noise. World travelers will appreciate the luxury and convenience of this new striking hotel.

Walter P Moore performed construction engineering working for the project’s reinforcement supplier and general contractor. Our services were required to fast-track the reinforcement construction drawings prior to final project approvals. A normal shop drawing process requires full approvals prior to beginning the detailing which requires much more time. Our team created a full, high-fidelity 3D model which included all reinforcement for the foundations project. The team then coordinated all other embedded items in the concrete with the reinforcement details. Special attention was paid to all column and wall reinforcement to be sure it was fully integrated in the model. The project was a success and we achieved an early start for the construction of the hotel’s foundations.
