Overview

Like most of today’s data centers, Project Cardinal is a highly confidential project that emphasizes the protection of the valuable data assets it houses from external and internal threats. Walter P Moore’s structural engineering team was able to keep a low profile while helping to develop a secure facility that could withstand weather and elements.

About the project

When the development of Project Cardinal started, the confidential owners of the space needed a structural engineering team they could trust to ensure the facility would be protected from internal and external threats.

This mostly precast concrete facility is designed to withstand wind speeds up to 200 MPH and utilizes a powerful uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system that can back up all critical building systems if needed. The facility also has 72 hours of fuel and 300,000 gallons of chilled water stored on-site to ensure that operations continue, even during the most extreme conditions.
